Our client is a company specializing in the assessment of medical expenses. The client works with both plaintiffs and defendants, providing services for evaluating past and future medical bills and expert reports.

Employees of the client, such as medical reviewers, lawyers, and healthcare professionals, analyze numerous medical documents and expert reports while working on legal cases. The client decided to automate the process of handling medical information using AI.

The primary goal of the platform is to analyze expert reports and identify weaknesses in them to develop a more effective legal strategy.

The main areas of the client’s work with expert reports include:

• Analyzing the qualifications of experts based on their experience, certifications, and other professional data.
• Reviewing the methodology used in the reports to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Formulating critical remarks and rebuttals to expert opinions, taking into account scientific and legal validity.

Stage 1: Data Collection and Processing

The platform begins by uploading the opposing expert’s reports. If the document is in PDF format without a text layer, the system uses Azure Document Intelligence OCR to extract text and prepare it for further analysis.

Data is processed automatically, eliminating the need for manual data entry.

Stage 2: Critical Data Analysis

At this stage, the system conducts a comprehensive analysis of key aspects of the expert report to identify areas where the opposing party’s expertise may be insufficient.

• Expert Qualification Analysis: The platform evaluates the professional experience, academic degrees, certifications, and published works of the expert. For example, if the opposing expert lacks a key certification or has insufficient experience in a specific area, the system highlights these shortcomings.
• Methodology Critique: The AI analyzes whether the approaches and methods used by the expert comply with industry standards. The system identifies potential errors or non-obvious assumptions and provides arguments to challenge them. We use ChatGPT-4 to verify the methodology against accepted industry practices.
• Rebuttal of Conclusions: The platform generates detailed responses to the opposing expert’s conclusions, offering alternative interpretations of the data based on verified scientific and legal sources.

Stage 3: Report Generation

After completing the analysis, the platform automatically creates a detailed document containing all critical remarks and alternative arguments. Users can supplement the report or export it immediately for use in legal or other professional contexts.

The final report is stored in the secure Azure Blob Storage cloud and transmitted via API for integration with the client’s other systems.
